This was one event for which Claudia Schiffer’s red carpet gowns were left in the wardrobe. The German model looked every inch a frauline as she donned a traditional lace-up dirndl dress for the opening of a Bavarian festival in the German state’s capital, Munich.

Claudia, who now lives in London with her British director husband Matthew Vaughn and their two children, was back in her native land for the annual Oktoberfest. The largest fair in the world, the celebration features a mix of food, music, dancing, and beer.

Raising a beer stein containing a draught of one of the festival’s famed lagers was Albert of Monaco. The prince caught up with Bavarian royal and former champion race driver Prince Leopold on the second day of the 16-day event.
